Host – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
1. Who we are
Host is a fitness and nutrition app made by Warren Keys, based in the Isle of Man ("Host", "we", "us"). We decide how your information is used, so we are the data controller under Isle of Man data protection law.
Questions about your privacy: hello@hostfitness.app. We aim to reply within 30 days.
2. What Host collects
Host only holds what you type, log or take in the app. Some of it is health information, which the law treats as extra sensitive, so we only use it with your clear agreement.
| What | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your name | First name for the greeting | To personalise the app |
| Body details and goals | Age, height, weight, sex, activity level, goal weight | To work out your calorie and macro targets |
| Food and water | Meals, recipes, portions, glasses of water | To track your daily intake |
| Training | Programmes, sessions, sets, weights, reps, dates and times | To plan your week and show your progress |
| Progress photos | Photos you choose to take or add | So you can compare your progress |
| Settings | Units (stone or kg), appearance, reminders | To remember how you like the app |
Health check: before setting a calorie target, Host asks a few safety questions (for example about age, pregnancy and eating disorders). Your answers to the most sensitive questions are never stored. Host only remembers that the check was passed and the date.
We do not collect your location, contacts or advertising identifiers, and we do not show adverts.
3. Apple Health
If you choose to connect Apple Health, Host will read your steps, weight and body fat so they appear in the app. You pick exactly which items Host can read, and you can change this any time in the iPhone Health app.
- Host only reads from Apple Health; it does not write anything back.
- Apple Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold.
- It is never shared with anyone else without your permission.
- It is not stored in iCloud by Host.
This section applies once Apple Health support is released.
4. How we use your information
We use your information only to run the app for you: setting your targets, tracking food, water and training, and showing your progress.
- Legal basis: your consent for health information, and providing the service you asked for (our contract with you) for everything else.
- No automated decisions: your targets are calculated suggestions; nothing is decided about you that has a legal or similar effect.
- Not medical advice: Host gives general fitness and nutrition guidance. Check with a doctor before starting a new diet or training plan.
5. Where it's kept, who sees it, and for how long
Your information is stored on your own iPhone. Host has no servers of its own and adds no analytics or tracking. Progress photos stay inside the app and are never uploaded.
- Sharing: we do not sell or rent your information. When you search for a food or scan a barcode, only the search words or barcode number are sent to Open Food Facts, a free public food database, to find the food. Your name, weight, goals, diary and photos are never sent. Apple delivers the app and may send us anonymous crash and usage reports if you allow it in your iPhone settings.
- Backups: your iPhone's own backups (iCloud or computer) may include the app's data, under Apple's terms. If you use Export backup in Host, the file is saved wherever you choose and is yours to keep safe.
- How long: your information stays until you delete it in the app or delete the app. Deleting the app removes everything Host has stored on your phone.
If we add accounts or online syncing in future, we will update this policy and tell you in the app before anything changes.
6. Your rights, age limit and changes
You can ask us to see, correct, delete or hand over a copy of any information we hold about you, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Because your data lives on your phone, you can also edit or delete it directly in the app.
- Age: Host is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
- Changes: if we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and let you know in the app.
- Complaints: contact us first at hello@hostfitness.app. You can also complain to the Isle of Man Information Commissioner, or the data protection authority where you live.
